How to use the percentage calculator
Each line is a separate calculation. Type your numbers into the boxes on the line you need, and the answer appears on the right. You can use decimals and negative numbers.
The formulas

| Percentage change from X to Y | (Y − X) ÷ X × 100 | 80 to 100 = 25% increase |
| Add X% to Y | Y × (1 + X ÷ 100) | 200 + 15% = 230 |
| Take X% off Y | Y × (1 − X ÷ 100) | 25% off 200 = 150 |
Everyday uses
- Discounts: a 30% sale on a 450 SAR item costs 450 × 0.7 = 315 SAR.
- Salary increases: a raise from 8,000 to 8,600 is a 7.5% increase.
- Exam scores: 42 out of 50 is 84%.
- Tax and fees: adding 15% to 200 gives 230. For VAT, the VAT calculator also shows the tax amount.
Percent or percentage points?
If an interest rate goes from 4% to 5%, it rose by 1 percentage point, but by 25 percent (because 1 is 25% of 4). The percentage-change line gives the second answer.
